I used to get upset when I would see people getting drunk on Christmas. I will see people going to bars, partying, and even saw an advertisement for a strippers show. I see folks who don't even go to church, celebrate what was taught to me as Jesus Birthday. Why would people dishonor his day I would think.
I would then do research and find out that the season started before Jesus was born on Earth. It stems from Pagan worship in regards to the Winter Solstice. In this people partied, and got drunk. When they so-called converted to Christianity, they kept these celebrations and just changed the name and reason. They now was calling it celebrating Jesus Birthday instead of Nimrod, an evil man whose birthday was celebrated on Dec 25. Even today, some churches are allowing people to bring that that is of the world, and changing it to fit the church. That is why we have Holy Hip Hop, The Gospel Slide, Gospel stepping, all in the name of Jesus of course.
Dec 25th was the celebration of Nimrod's birthday, an evil man in the Bible. He is the one who wanted to build the tower of Babel. Nowhere is it commanded to cellebrate the birth of Christ, but it is nothing wrong with us doing it from our hearts, just don't use sinful celebrations and change it. Because of this, what should be a joyous time, turns out to be a time of depression, dissapointments, stress, ect. Also, notice songs like Jingle Bells celebrate the season, not Christmas. Oh Christmas Tree, how much I love you. During pagan times, trees decorated with Silver and Gold were worshipped
As I close let me say this, if you are going to celebrate the birth of Christ, let it be that and nothing else. Those are my thoughts
